This is absolutely NOT recommended for use in any sort of "real" website scenario. It's just kind of funny and interesting.

Open default mail program, create new message with the TO field already filled out.
<a href="mailto:someone@yoursite.com">Email Us</a>
Open default mail program, create new message with the TO and SUBJECT field already filled out. Essentially we are adding the parameter subject to the href value.
Spaces in the subject will probably work OK, but to be super-extra sure, you can replace spaces with "%20".
<a href="mailto:someone@yoursite.com?subject=Mail from Our Site">Email Us</a>
Open default mail program, create new message with the TO, SUBJECT, CC, and BCC field already filled out. Essentially we are adding the parameters cc and bcc to the href value.
Also note that you add multiple values to CC and BCC by comma separating them.
<a href="mailto:someone@yoursite.com?cc=someoneelse@theirsite.com, another@thatsite.com, me@mysite.com&bcc=lastperson@theirsite.com&subject=Big%20News">Email Us</a>
Just add the body parameter into the ever-growing list of parameters we are using.

For example, a dropdown menu going "behind" a flash movie, or staying on top of a lightbox layover.
Add this to the Flash embed code:
<param name="wmode" value="transparent">
Make sure the element that is supposed to be on top has positioning (fixed, relative, or absolute) and a z-index value higher than the Flash object.
This is the calling one (probably more useful if the clickable text is words, as the iPhone auto-detects phone numbers and does this automatically):
<a href="tel:1-408-555-5555">1-408-555-5555</a>
This is the SMS one, which overrides the default calling behavior:
<a href="sms:1-408-555-1212">New SMS Message</a>
Not sure what other things these links might work on... Might be a little dangerous as having non-standard links that don't work or bring up errors is kinda bad UX. Best for mobile-only sites. If someone know if this works on Android/Blackberry/Other Mobile, comment below.

Valid technique, as it doesn't need the <embed> tag.

Quicktime still requires the double-object method to get it done across all browsers. Not super pretty, but it does get the job done.
<object classid="clsid:02BF25D5-8C17-4B23-BC80-D3488ABDDC6B"

This is different than the default code that Flash provides. That typically involves the <embed> tag and is not valid XHTML. This doesn't use that, and is fully valid.
<object type="application/x-shockwave-flash"

The <!-- --> stuff is the HTML comment. It is a way to add notes into the code which will not display when the HTML is rendered by the browser. In the example above, to signify which opening div tag the closing tag was actually closing.
You can use carriage return characters to break the line:
